Fontenil Red 2017 A Selection Sommelier From Fronsac

The creation of Château Fontenil

Château Fontenil is the result of the collaboration between two oenologists, Dany and Michel Rolland, who come from a family of winemakers and graduated from the University of Bordeaux. After advising numerous vineyards, they decided to acquire a few hectares in the town of Saillans to create their own wine in the Fronsac appellation in Gironde in 1986. Today, Château Fontenil has become a reference in the world of wine.

A unique and environmentally-friendly terroir

Château Fontenil is located on an exceptional terroir, composed of argilo-calcareous and argilo-siliceous soils, which bring a great aromatic richness to the wine. The vines are cultivated in a reasoned manner, with respect for the environment and biodiversity. Grapes are harvested by hand, allowing for rigorous selection of the best berries to create a superior quality wine.

The quality of Fontenil wine

An assemblage of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon is used to create Fontenil wine. It is then aged for 12 months in oak barrels, giving it a beautiful dark color, aromas of red fruits and licorice, as well as silky tannins and remarkable length in the mouth. Château Fontenil is considered an exceptional wine that has seduced lovers of great wines. It is the perfect companion to enjoy with red meats, saucy dishes, and aged cheeses.

A vintage that stands out for its beautiful tannic structure, intense fruitiness, and freshness. The wines of Fronsac in 2017 are promising and can be enjoyed in their youth or after a few years of aging.
