La Dame de Montrose is the distinguished Second Wine from Château Montrose, a highly-regarded Second Growth in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Created as a tribute to the formidable Yvonne Charmolüe, this cuvée offers the classic Montrose structure and elegance but is designed for earlier drinking, providing exceptional value and a true taste of this great estate's terroir.

Tasting Notes

Expect a rich, deep colour and a complex nose of dark fruit-black cherry, damson plum, and cassis-complemented by hints of graphite, tobacco leaf, and fine French oak. The palate is beautifully balanced, boasting a silky mouthfeel and refined, persistent tannins. It's a charming, full-bodied expression that maintains the signature freshness of Saint-Estèphe, culminating in a long, satisfying finish.

Serving Suggestions

This fine Claret is superb with traditional British Sunday roasts, particularly lamb or beef, and game dishes. Its structure also makes it an excellent foil for mature hard cheeses. For best enjoyment, decant for an hour and serve around 17°C.
