Hospices de Beaune Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru Cuvée Fouquerand 2018

In 1457, Jean Guillotte le Verrier made the first donation of vines to the Hôtel-Dieu built in Beaune by Nicolas Rolin in 1443. This custom has continued over the centuries and is still in use today. Donating vines to the Hospices is a way for patients or their families to thank the institution, to ensure its continuity and, also, to remain in history! The wines of the Hospices de Beaune (called cuvées) often bear the name of the family that donated the plots of land that go into the wine.
