Château Boyd Cantenac
The Château Boyd Cantenac: history and terroir
Château Boyd Cantenac is a vineyard located in the Margaux commune, at the heart of the Médoc wine region in southwestern France. It owes its name to the Boyd and Cantenac families, successive owners of the estate since the 18th century. Château Boyd Cantenac spans over 30 hectares of vines, planted on a soil of Garonne gravel, typical of the region.
The wine of Boyd Cantenac: a production of excellence
Boyd Cantenac wine is a red wine with Margaux appellation, known for its elegance and finesse. It comes from a blend of noble grape varieties, mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The grapes are harvested by hand, then meticulously sorted to keep only the best. The vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in oak barrels for about 18 months, giving the wine its aromatic complexity and tannic structure.
Château Boyd Cantenac also produces a second label, the Margaux de Boyd Cantenac, made from the same grape varieties, but with a higher proportion of Merlot, resulting in a fruitier and more accessible wine from a young age.
Tasting Boyd Cantenac wine
Boyd Cantenac wine is a wine to be cellared, which can be stored for several decades in a good cellar. It is recommended to taste it at a temperature of 18°C-20°C, ideally accompanying red meat dishes, game or aged cheeses.
A classic vintage for Saint-Julien in 2004, with elegant and structured wines. Aromas of red fruits and spices blend with fine tannins to offer a beautiful complexity on the palate.
